The route
From Basel to Maastricht, heading north through six countries. The market picked in each city may still change.
Our rules
- One calendar day. All six markets between midnight and midnight on December 12.
- Public transit and local taxis only. Trains, trams, buses and licensed local taxis are fine. No private cars, rental cars, rideshare apps or flights.
- It only counts with proof. At each market we take a photo of the two of us, glühwein in hand.
- Both of us, every market. We don't split up, and nobody gets left on a platform.
FAQ
Why are you doing this?
Because six countries and six Christmas markets fit into one day, if the trains cooperate. And because it sounded fun.
Can I join?
This one is just the two of us. But you can follow along and send us a cheer to keep us going.
What happens if a train is late?
We improvise. We have backup connections planned and a taxi number saved for each town.
